Delayed Latency of the Event - Related Brain Potential P 3 A Component in HIV Disease

چکیده
Participants: Seventy-one community-residing gay or bisexual HIV-positive male volunteers were compared with 17 HIV-negative male gay or bisexual subjects used as a control sample. The HIV-positive subjects were stratified with regard to severity of cognitive impairment into the following three subsamples: subjects who were cognitively normal (n=35), subjects with mild to moderate cognitive impairment (n=20), and subjects with severe cognitive impairment (n=16), with the samples closely

Effect of chronic alcohol abuse on the CNS morbidity of HIV disease.
NS DISEASE is a frequent cause of human immuno-C deficiency virus (HW) morbidity and mortality. The newest " su~cessful'~ treatments for HIV disease, the pro-tease inhibitors, have limited CNS penetration. Because of this, CNS morbidity may become even more important in the management of HIV disease. There is a high prevalence of heavy alcohol use in populations at high risk for HIV infection; ...
متن کاملEvaluating Cognitive Performance of Executive Control Based on Evidence from Attention Network Test and Event-Related Potential in Individuals with Mild Depressive Disorder and Burnout
Introduction: One of the secondary consequences of burnout is a significant reduction in cognitive functions, the most obvious and important of which is the cognitive function of attention and control, which can play a vital role in efficiency and prevention of errors at work in many occupations. On the other hand, a neurological examination is needed to understand better the relationship betwe...
متن کاملEvaluation of Phase Locking and Cross Correlation Methods for Estimating the Time Lag between Brain Sites: A Simulation Approach
Introduction: Direction and latency of electrical connectivity between different sites of brain explains brain neural functionality. We compared efficiency of cross correlation and phase locking methods in time lag estimation which are based on local field potential (LFP) and LFPspike signals, respectively. Methods: Signals recorded from MT area of a macaque’s brain was used in a simulation ...
متن کاملEvaluation of self-esteem in children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder based on event-related potential
Background: Self-esteem, the value we place on ourselves, has been associated with effects on health, and life satisfaction. Many studies reported that children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) suffer from low self-esteem has been associated with negative life outcomes. The present study investigated neural correlation of self-esteem in this group compared with typically dev...
متن کاملNeurophysiologid Manifestations of Phonological Processing: Latency Variation of a Negative ERP Component Timelocked to Phonological Mismatch
Two experiments examined phonological priming effects on reaction times, error rates, and event-related brain potential (ERP) measures in an auditory lexical decision task. In Experiment 1 related prime-target pairs rhymed, and in Experiment 2 they alliterated (i.e., shared the consonantal onset and vowel). Event-related potentials were recorded in a delayed response task. Reaction times and er...
